(Finally, a decent blog post!)
AHEM.
As far back as I could remember, I've always enjoyed the thought of playing with tools and using them for one thing or another. A lot of the time I enjoyed being the one to use the screwdrivers to change the batteries of toys and radios and stuff, and even looked forward to help my Dad set up his tool board in his little "Batcave" workshop.
Just a few minutes ago, I came home from work (alone) to our maid expressing her concern that my brother's door was somehow locked and couldn't be opened. She pointed out the keys to all the rooms in the house, most of which were attached to nostalgic key tags from the company where my Dad works. Most had markers labeling what key went where, and she mentioned that the one that was supposedly for my brother's room wasn't working. After sifting through the keys, I noted that it must have been ages since they were labeled, and so assumed that rooms belonged to different people.
I took two keys up with me to check on the situation - the one that was labeled as my brother's room, and one that was labeled simply as "Boy's Room". My room was actually my brother's a few years back, so I nonchalantly checked it. Lo and behold, it worked, so that mean the second key was the culprit.
When I went to check on the lock, however, turning it I noticed that it showed no signs of it being locked, but tried the key anyway. It fit like a glove but it still wouldn't budge. Eventually, I saw that it was a bit off its center when I saw the mechanism inside. After a bit of fiddling, I spotted the problem - the knob got unhinged from the latch, hence the seemingly locked door. And so I busted out the screwdriver (I thank my Grampa everyday whenever I use my barrel of screwdrivers) and started shimmying things around. It took a while 'cause pulling back on the latch turned out to be more difficult than I envisioned it to be. But thanks to a little perseverance, I finally got it to open!
These are the times I wished my Sonic Screwdriver worked. But hey, at least the actual counterpart of it did the trick!

To further commemorate my new laptop dubbed Jarvis, here's my first "official" picture taken with his trusty internal webcam, sponsored by Acer Crystal Eye. What's so special about this particular picture, you ask? Two things, so technically speaking, the peace sign I'm making has its double meanings.
The first is to chronicle the lilac polo t-shirt I got as a souvenir from my Auntie Lynda, who was visiting from Los Angeles for a few weeks here in Manila. This particular shade of purple reminds me fondly of a shirt that one of my favorite college professors often wore (shout-out to Ma'am Jess!). And considering Kai's favorite color is purple, it helps to have one that's easier on the eyes. I'm starting to see a pattern inthe polo t-shirts I acquire; they're all pastel or dark.

I've been badgering about this on my blog for some time now, but it wouldn't hurt to bring it up again, just for old times' sake.
After a quick search I realized that the last time I posted a picture of myself getting a haircut was more than a year ago (September 2011), without so much as a picture for comparison with Yuya. Now though, I've come bearing such a picture for you all!
When I finally decided to get myself a haircut, I decided to want to bring a reference picture this time around. While I was there, I was having a talk with the guy who was gonna cut my hair and I pulled out my iTouch and showed him the picture. After he commented on how good it looked, he began combing my hair and asked "Ikaw ba yan?" (trans. Is that you?) I laughed and corrected him, saying that it wasn't.
Funny how accidental twins can come about, eh?

The house where I live has been there for 23-ish years; two years older than me and about as old as my sister. Aging houses often mean occasional tune ups to keep it in good condition. The reason why I brought this up was because the old reliable door that we locked at night refused to open to the turn of the key from the inside. There was more progress from outside but that only went as far as a turn of the key and nothing else.
It was completely hopeless from inside. I tried toggling from outside. It was tough. But somehow, success!
Even old reliable locks need to be replaced when it stops us from passing through. Guess it was its way of saying to use the actual front door.

This will be a short post (not counting the mass of birthday celebrations I have missed once again) about a fairly simple topic: Slender Man.
Yesterday, one of my officemates shared a copy of the (free!) game and one of my good friends at the office, Felix, was the first to try it out. The name of the game? Slender. The objective is fairly simple: collect 8 pages. Apparently the circumstances are as such: you are a female character with a video camera, a flashlight running on battery with a mission to learn more about the Slenderman. The setting is dark, and there is no music save for the sound effects of your footsteps, and eventually, tell-tale signs of the Slenderman's approach. It's a minimalist game built in Unity, but is one heck of a scary game. For those who want a good scare, you can find the link to the site (and the download) here!
I'm still debating if I ever want to try playing it. But watching others play it is just as damn scary.

Earlier today I was early for my 7:30 class; so early that I decided to get myself some coffee from vending machine, a rarity. I decided to get a Cafe Mocha since the description slayed me with a coffee + chocolate, no sugar somewhere in the mix. After I ascended three floors, settled myself down while waiting for the classrooms to be opened, I sipped on the substance, hoping that I'll keep me awake since I was sleep deprived from last night's series of events that ended up with me only getting roughly 1 1/2 hours of sleep.
Funnily enough, as soon as I finished my coffee I slumped into a power nap.
NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. =.=
Anyway, that aside, today I got to continue working on paper revisions for our thesis. I'm hoping to get them done before Friday so our adviser has time to read and make any suggestions before we submit it as a final requirement for the semester. It's fulfilling knowing we're on track with several of the non-Affective thesis groups in terms of getting everything in in time.
To cap off the day, I found out that I wasn't failing my enemy Philippine History; in fact, our professor even encouraged me that he I could get a B on the final exam if I put my best foot forward. Hope I don't let him down! After that, I accompanied Lev to help her learn how to put on and remove contact lenses since she acquired some two pairs from the Internet. It was funny watching Lev fumble with the soft lenses and constantly mutter how 'scary' the how prospect of sticking your finger into your eye was, but in the end she got it in and I think that's what's important!
Will be meeting with Kai tomorrow to spend the day to de-stress from the fast approaching Finals week. Last stretch and we're home free!

Today was an interesting day. We (me and Jason, as well as TC and Rina) were interviewed for the Mind Museum set to open on the 15th of December later this year to talk about our ongoing thesis projects. It should be a lot of fun if and when I decide to grace the area of Taguig.

This will be short and sweet, mostly because I'm not at home and I don't really want to spend so much time typing up needless things, and splashes of water are falling onto my palms. xD Anyhow, just wanted to point out that while the strong rains have ceased, the winds haven't around here so it's pretty neat to a point, but here's fingers crossed that the weather doesn't backfire, especially since I'm not in the house. @.@

So earlier this afternoon I was spending my usual time between 12:30-3:30 in ALLS, and Dr. Wayne Patterson from Howard University, who was going to be giving a Cybersecurity Talk among other things tomorrow, was there. One interesting conversation that took place was when he was inquiring about the venue of a certain event that was going to be taking place at around this time when he was clarifying that it be 'on the roof' of some building in school.
I laughed, of course, and he was asking why.
Then I told him that it's more of a 'roof deck' than a roof because we mean that it's the top floor that could be considered the roof so there we go.
Some new terminology that he and I can laugh about whenever someone mentions having an event on the roof (which is not to say that it's actually on top of the roof itself). xD

'Tis the season of rain and with it, cold weather and rainfall naturally start a'brewing.

So that usually means dressing up and hauling out the jackets and whatnot to keep warm and dry - at least for the most part. As I was getting ready to head off to school when rain started to drizzle/pour. I was initially just supposed to bring along my Invitational Jacket (the red/black/white) one to battle the cold but thought I needed a hood too so I grabbed my Uniqlo jacket as well.
And so the double layer. ☆-( ^-ﾟ)v
I'm at ALLS right now waiting for 10:15 to come along so I can start heading to my 10:30 class in Kostka which is about a 5 minute walk away.

So today was another average, lack of sleep, unproductive day. Why? Two reasons.
1. It rained (hard) sometime in the afternoon during my commute home
2. I've been experiencing chronic headaches/migraines through the course of the day.
=______= I may need to sleep to get rid of this darn headache.
In other news I stopped by McDonald's for a snack and decided to grab myself a Coke glass and got my favorite blue color~

It's back to school, back to school time! First day was interesting, but very, very hot. DDDDDx

It was an interesting night driving home today. I just came back from taking Kai home and as I slowed to a stop just outside our house and honked the horn, I noticed that no one else was home, granted that it was already 9 in the evening. From my rear view mirror, I saw two sets of headlight approaching and signaled right to indicate that I was waiting for the gate to open.
As our house help finally came to open the gate, I check the rear view again and noticed that the first car also signaled right: my sister.
I drove the car to the inside parking space and set the gears to park, looking in my rear view once more to see my sister come in as well. And then moments later, my parents drove in as well! xDDDD
Coincidence of coincidence that we all came home at about the same time.

Just came from dinner out at Teriyaki Boy, Gateway with Kai tonight~ And I finally got my hands on my Orange Card!! After nearly 3 months! TuT
I came home and lo and behold; A WORKING TV!!!! It's been years since I've had one working so it's good. I think I'll go and steal a DVD player from downstairs to watch my stuff there. :D It'll be a new experience watching things on the TV screen I think.

Friday seems to be a lazy day for everyone. Me included, although my day was more active than lazy when it came to commuting. Then again this whole week I was without a car going to school so the increase of the Jeepney fare was not something I got to avoid this week. Oh well.
Spent a hearty lunch at KFC with Kai then went to her house to rest up for the afternoon. Soft beds FTW. ~u~ Then commuted home to catch the last jeep that crossed Commonwealth, thank goodness.

While checking my Blogger Dashboard a few days back, I spotted a drop-down menu allowing me to choose the language of how it looks. Of course, being the silly little Japanese fan that I am, I decided to put it in Japanese for a few days, including this very moment I'm typing this entry. Of course my entries will remain in English or as I type them here, but it's a new experience seeing the new post page buttons and tabs in Japanese.
It's a new sense of excitement, yei~ ^o^/
